I am running into a small problem as I write this. How much
knowledge should we expect a person to know about Draw? When it comes
to creating slides, most of the toolbars available in Draw can also be
used in Impress. Can I refer the reader to the Getting Started with
Draw for details on how to use these toolbars, or do I need to add that
material in my chapter as well? Should I mention only a few of the
simpler ones and refer to the User Guide for the more complicated ones?

I think, as Jean said, that we are generally assuming that a person will
only be reading the guide that you authoring in. What I mean is that we
assume that someone reading the Impress Guide will not read any other
guide (save maybe the Getting Started Guide.) Each guide should be able
to stand on its own without a lot of references to other guides.
