The proposal (subject of this thread) was to move subscribers from this
list ([email protected]) to a new list under the
oooauthors.org domain. That's ok. In fact I prefer Mailman lists :) What
is not ok, is to automatically assume that the subscriber list should be
automatically transferred to the new list.

Please explain why you think this is not okay. I honestly do not see what the problem might be. To me it would be the same list, just on a different server, and therefore moving the entire list of subscribers at once would be a service to the members of the list rather than an imposition. What am I missing?
not answering for Jacqueline but for myself. It might be an cultural issue (at least for myself) Europeans are used to have control of their own data, what includes my mailaddress and it's usage. I know, this might sound stupid, as everybody can pick up my address from the web and add it to a mailinglist. But to me, this is a very unfriendly way. It is simply, that I want to decide, if I move my subscription over to another mailing list.
