Thanks for the offer.
I have been presenting OmegaT a number of times now pretty much all
over Japan, and I am only starting to get what "new users" want to
hear... It is really hard to figure out when one has become a "power"
user...
Actually I just finished a presentation in Kobe at the 17th
International Japanese English Translators Conference. A number of
people attending were using OpenOffice and that was pretty much
everything they new about opensource.
They had never heard of _free_ CAT tools before. A number of them
actually never used anything special for translating.
In this respect, it looks like the FOSS localization "market" is much
more advanced. Especially when you consider the huge systems that
have been implanted for OOo l10n or Debian... I have never met better
quality control process than those, and I mean in real "translating"
life...
I have been organizing VoIP "seminars" too. Last time was with the
Kansai Perl User Group for their POD translation workshop. It lasted
2 hours with Skype a was actually very interesting since we focused
on 1 file format. Explaining the basic concepts was then made much
easier.
In fact, I think we could organize a mini translation VoIP conference
for Authors translators to introduce them to the basics of OmegaT.
Would their be a "demand" for such a tool ?
