Dan,
This is wonderful news! Your "Getting Started with Base" chapter
is great (very clear and understandable), so I'm really glad to
hear that you will be working on the Base Guide itself.
As for reviewers, I'm sure Drew Jensen will be involved, but I
suggest you write to the Docs list or one of the developer lists
as well as to this OOoAuthors list, to reach more potential helpers.
I agree with writing the preface last.

I'm not sure that I know enough yet about the ins and outs of Base, but
someone has to start the writing. So, that is what I am going to do. I trust
that others will look closely at whatever I write and make constructive
criticisms where they are needed. I have much to learn as I progress in this
task.
From the outline, it seems to me that the preface should be one of the
last things written because it its reader to where in the Guide to find the
information desired. Writing it last just seems to be the more sensible thing
to do.
My goal is to have the Introducing Base chapter written by January 15,
2008. I also want to have an additional chapter ready by the 15th of each
succeeding month. If at all possible, I would like for others to review each
chapter during the first two weeks after it is submitted. That will give me
approximately two weeks each month to concentrate completely upon the chapter
I am then writing.
