What effect will a change from frames to tables (for holding graphics and their captions) have when our files are exported to Mediawiki format for the OOo wiki? I haven't tried this, so I don't know if it would be better or worse, but IMO any problems in converting to wiki format are a more important consideration *for our books* than problems converting to Word.

Why should tables present problems?

One problem with frames is that their contents are embedded within and are not as easy to manipulate after conversion to DOC. Frames in Word DOC format also have similar characteristics in FrameMaker after being imported into FrameMaker. Using tables generated in ODT, then converting them to DOC, and then further importing them into FrameMaker worked fine for me over the past months I've been doing that. OOo frames don't convert as well into DOC, and then they cause FrameMaker to literally bomb--requiring an abort of FrameMaker via the Windows Task Manager, every time...

My goal is to demonstrate how OOo ODT files can coexist in the world outside of OOo. That is important because that is how the world currently works. Using incompatible ODT functions won't make friends with others who also must deal with DOC files out of business or professional considerations. I believe Andrew had some issues in a similar vein. Or maybe I'm incorrect about that.
