In general I would be happier to keep the frames as they allow more flexibility in placing the figures on the page. At present 99% of the figures are centred in the page, therefore there is not much difference, however in some occasions we could actually try to reduce the page count by using wrapping of the text around the figures. I agree with you that frames are very poorly handled during the conversion from OOo to MSO (and vice versa), however I wonder how many users of the OOo User Guides will want to convert the documents to .doc format. I am not familiar with frameMaker, but I wonder if it is really necessary to go through the intermediate step of converting to DOC which is what causes the problem in the first place. Since also the the open document format is based on XML, are you sure there is no direct import/export function? Cheers, Michele
