Thanks, Cor. Yes, that issue describes the problem I have been experiencing. I will try to find some time today to add to it. I will also try to establish a pattern of which files have the problem and in what circumstances. So far this is what I have found...
For me it is definitely related to opening older files, and not all of them show the problem. As far as I can tell, the files that show the problem are ones containing material that originated in v1.x documents which were later put into the OOoAuthors v2.x template. And in a few cases, the original document was in MSWord before being put into OOo1.x. Much of WG Chapter 14 (Fields) that started this discussion began life, five years ago, as a Word document.
