One guess is that OOo 2.4 does not honour the "next style" field and
reverts instead to default even if it preserves the formatting. You
will in fact note that many of the paragraph after a OOoHeading are
marked as default even if they are not. They should be OOoTextBody as
per the style setting (OOoHeading x is followed by OOoTextBody).
Michele, it looks as if you have identified the general problem and it
would be useful if the other reporters (Jean and Gary) could confirm or
refute its applicability to their problem(s)? This could go a long way
towards helping the developers to fix the problem in a reasonably short
time-scale.
I thought the "next style" field on paragraph styles was supposed
to apply only when one was creating a file, not after the fact,
when opening a file again. One can change the selection of
paragraph style from what the "next style" gives, and the changed
selection sticks... or it did in past versions of OOo. But if
OOo2.4 is suddenly (a) applying a next style to paragraphs after
the fact, and (b) getting it wrong (or effectively saying "this
para has a next style that is different from the current style,
so I'll ignore it" -- that is indeed a fascinating bug.
Especially since it does not appear to occur in a new file, but
only in (some) reopened old files.
