I haven't tried any of the new 3.0 features yet myself, but the best
place I've found so far for some previews and usage descriptions is
http://www.oooninja.com/. I don't remember if they've covered PDF
import, though. I vaguely recall seeing something about it, but I
don't recall what or where. A search of the blog entries at
http://blogs.sun.com/GullFOSS/ might turn up something.
The source for new Help entries (even though not yet integrated into
the product) may be around somewhere that you could access. You might
ask on the Docs list... if someone who is paying more attention than I
am doesn't respond to your question soon.

A Web search was futile as I found nothing on PDF import other than
hype. Using the OOo fora wasn't much better, but I didn't spend much
time there.
AFAIK, PDF import is done via Draw, according to the media promotion due
by OOo.
