I like the concept, but I don't think it quite works in practice as a chapter title page. The OpenOffice.org 3 logo is so large that it overwhelms everything else on the page, and the graphic down the left-hand side gets cut off by my printer's non-printing area -- and also at the bottom by the fact that the page is US letter and my paper is A4. Of course, that's not an issue when viewed onscreen.

Your idea could work as a cover for the full book, especially the printed version, where the original darker blue graphic, and the page-edge bleeds, will work just fine and the large logo seems more suitable.
