Numbered lists, things to look for:
* Highlight the paragraphs and then turn off numbering. A worst case
would be to highlight some text before and after, cut the text to the
clipboard and then past as regular text (with no formatting).
* When you apply numbering, make certain that the paragraph before the
first paragraph to be numbered is NOT numbered. If it is, then insert a
new line that is not numbered and enter some garbage text (a single
character, for example). Finally, apply numbering to appropriate paragraphs.
Between these two options, I have always been able to "make it right".
