Hello and thank you all for a great job over these past years. As a very basic user of your products, and I mean BASIC user, I use the writer and database on an everyday matter of courses. Beats the hell out of knowing something :).

I am not a programmer and that being the case, I would appreciate someone stepping me through how to put either the AM or the PM US Gold price into a database I am building.

The idea of course is to use that number to "value" my "precious metal" holdings I have placed into tjhe database. Currently I am putting the price per ounce of both Gold and Silver in by hand whenever I open the db up.

I do hope that this is not asking to much of you all. And once again many thanks from us Basic Users, it is a Blessing.

Being a previous user of OOo 1.x, I was shocked at the amount of changes that have been implemented since in the current version 3.x when my workplace recently migrated to Openoffice. I'm thoroughly impressed with the progress made over a short few years, and would like to offer my services to help further the project. I am currently waiting for university admission, and English is my first language. I have been programmer for about 5 years, and am experienced in C++, C#, Visual Basic and .NET. I used to contribute to OOo Authors as a kid, but was forced to stop due to school work and time constraints. Now that that's over, I am confident I will be able to contribute more regularly to this project. I'd like to think (and certainly hope) that I have improved during my time away, and I look forward to working with you in whatever capacity I can offer.

Welcome back! I remember your name. :-) You'll find that a few things have changed here, too.

The first page of the OOoAuthors website has information about working on the ODT files and the priority chapters needing help. You can also contribute through the Documentation wiki if you prefer.
