Try and older version of divx? > the time, sometimes I get floating point exceptions and in very rare cases > there's indeed an output file -- but there's only noise to see. Don't use avirecompress at all. avirecompress is not exactly heavily developed any more..... Use avidemux http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/ for editing your avis, it works fine for me and for avicap/avirec generated files. It's the subjectively 'best' VirtualDub-replacement I could find ;-) > I'm quite new in the business of digital video, avi, encoders and decoders, > so please bare with me: > > I try to convert a dvsd encoded video to divx5.05. I won't develop avirecompress any more (not since I found avidemux), dunno about Kabis opinion there. Use avidemux for editing avis, and dvd::rip for dvd transcoding, that's what I do Alex -- Alexander Rawass mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.raw-ass.net ...but some day you'll be a STAR in somebody else's SKY... _______________________________________________ Avifile mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://prak.org/mailman/listinfo/avifile
