You are absolutely right but the difference is where that conversion is implemented .If it was at the low level (inside flash player) like in Unity that would be fast but as it is being done at the Away api level I don't believe it is as effective in terms of performance as it could be if done natively.But still I think it is a good thing to have for rotations :)
