Hi, This is a bottle in the water. I'm still working on 'next' branch, which is gaining big progress almost every day. ;-) Things are getting very sexy from my PoV (YMMV) and very cleaner. So far, the core is 30 % less of SLOC. awful is not working anymore (which actually *is* good, since it's crap), neither the default config, so don't bother checking out, unless you want to try the new under documented API. :-)
Anyway, widget are gone (bye bye) and wibox are left. Wibox now have a basic .text property that draw text on them (how wonderful, isn't it?) There's also .align, .valign, .ellipsize. wrap, etc. Go read source code of wibox.c if you want precise listing. There's not .image property, but that's 10 lines to add. And that's the problem. I'm not sure how to add that, because there's a problem of layer with that: should we draw image above the text? below the text? With the same (v)align properties? Add 2 images? below and above?
