I just tried gdmflexiserver for myself and noticed that it does not work
well. Most of the time the X session from where it is launched crashes,
the newly created stays on another vt. I logged in as another user
there, using a default Gnome session and did a "switch user" from there
- then I could log in with my usual user and have an awesome session in
parallel to the Gnome one.

I currently have no clue who is to blame for the crashing - gdm, the
nvidia driver I'm using or awesome. Just reporting my experiences.

I don't really have a need for this myself, but I think it should "just
work"[tm]. I know it did when I tried some time ago, though I was using
wmii and AFAIR no nvidia driver back then, at least not with
TwinView/Xinerama.

Tell me if you have more look with this (maybe with a different display
manager).

Greetings,
Frank
