Hi again.

I have to revise that last statement. Switching from awesome to Gnome
and back was enough to kill [awesome|the X server awesome was running
on].

I found this in my .xsession-errors after the crash:

XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0.0"
after 126011 requests (126011 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
W: awesome: xcolor_init_reply:843: awesome: error, cannot allocate color
'#0033409a'
E: awesome: xutil_screen_get:123: X connection invalid
urxvt: X connection to ':0.0' broken, unable to recover, exiting.

Nothing suspicious in the Xorg.?.log files.

In /var/log/gdm/:0.log.2 I found this:

Backtrace:
0: /usr/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x7e) [0x80c91ce]
1: [0xb7f8d400]
2: /usr/lib/xorg/modules//libfb.so(fbOddTile+0x118) [0xb69c1c78]
3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules//libfb.so(fbTile+0x8c) [0xb69c1d4c]
4: /usr/lib/xorg/modules//libfb.so(fbFillRegionTiled+0x19d) [0xb69c242d]
5: /usr/lib/xorg/modules//libfb.so(fbPaintWindow+0x11e) [0xb69c272e]
6: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so [0xb6bf7ee4]

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

So this seems to be an nvidia issue.

Btw, could someone give me a hint how I can avoid that the
.xsession-errors gets overwritten on each new X session? I'd rather have
the new output appended.

Greetings,
Frank
