Hi Cynthia - I'm not able to work on this right now, but wanted to make a quick
reply of what I remember from memory off the top of my head. We're finishing
up chores and headed to my nephew's football game.

Babe's mother was Isabelle DaRosa. Isabelle's mother was Philomina (Rodriguez
or Jacinto). Philomina's Aunt was Mariana J. Rodriguez and her brother Antonio
Jacinto. Now, if Antonio is her father I don't know or possibly another Uncle.
Mariana's daughter Luisa was married to Daniel Francisco DaRosa. They had
three children, one son and twins. Luisa passed away. She's the one person
I'm having troubles verifing where she's burried, etc. - I've been working on
this for many years. Anyhow, Mariana cames from the Azores with her brother to
help raise the children. Dan DaRosa then married his wife's niece, Philomina.
The went on to have 7 more children of which Isabelle DaRosa was one of them.
Isabelle married Manual and had the three children you've listed below
including Babe.

I'm thinking the Caldera's and the DaRosa maybe knew each other in general. I
believe, and I need to verify my notes, but either Luisa or Dan DaRosa, one of
them was for sure from Faial. Also, Tres Pinos is a VERY small town. It's
several hours to drive there from where I live. I was hoping to see the large
cattle ranch that my great-great-great grandfather, Dan DeRosa owned, but the
access roads were runied after a storm and the only access, at that time, was
via horseback severall hours back in. There's suppose to be a small chapel on
the ranch which I was hoping to see as well. We were told some Attorney in NY
owns the land now.

As you can see, my information will probably only help you back to Isabelle
(the Mother) and that's about it. But, I would still be happy to try and help
you find more information on your Caldera's. I will also check my notes from
when I interviewed Bill Caldera. Again, they probably only talk about the
DaRosa's, but it was awhile back when I met him. Do you have Babe's daughter's
information, or would you like me to email it to you?

Take care and have a wonderful day,
Robin Borba Besotes

PS: The link I sent you to Babe's obit is now gone, did you copy it? If so,
could you email it to me? Could it have expired in one day? Thanks!

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Innocencia Caldera from Faial

Hi - I am trying to get information on the Caldera (probably Caldeira in
Portugal) side. I think I have some of the connections now, but woud love to
verify this with Babe's daugther.

  Manuel D Caldera (1840) & Mary _____ Caldera (b 1850) - immigrated from
Portugal and settled in Tres Pinos area
It appears they had 3 to 5 children (from looking at various census records)
  Manuel J, b 1870 (this is Babe's father, I think)
  Mary, b 1874
  Francis, b1877

Although there is a 9 year gap, but the following two look to be their
children as well:
  Rose b 1888
  Joseph, b 1884

Manuel J married Isabelle and they had 3 children: William, Hazel and
Isabelle (Babe)

If I am correct (and again, this is only from looking at several census
records and trying to put the puzzle together...)
Manuel D Caldera was the brother of my great-grandmother, Innocencia (Emma)
Caldera Nunes. This seems to make sense because my Dad and Babe were 2nd, not
1st cousins.

I know that Innocencia immigrated from Faial. So now I am trying to find Her
parents & siblings. Would like to verify if Manuel D (listed above) is her
brother and find out when they immigrated, port of entry, etc.

Well, thanks for your help. Maybe Babe's daughter can help put the puzzle
together.

I'm in Texas now, so I don't get back to CA very often to do research.

  Take care! Cynthia
