Hello Charlotte, Are you referring to Ribeira Grande in Sao Miguel? I have the films for both NS Estrela and Santissimo Salvador at my local FHC and have accumulated much information on the marriages in both Parishes. You have the parents of Jose Tavares Ferreira and his birth date does that mean you have his Baptismal record from Ribeira Grande (I assume NS Estrela) that would give the grand parents of Jose Tavares Ferreira and Maria Augusta Pimentel. A quick look in my files and I find a Maria daughter of Jose Pimentel born 8 Apr 1848 in Ribeirinha. There is a good chance we may have a connection. We can trace both of these families back to the 1600-1700 hundreds. However, I have very little information on my mother's fathers family. He was Joseph Tavares Ferreira and was born on Feb. 22 1879 in Riberia Grande and was the son of Jose Tavares Ferreira born in 1843 and Maria Augusta Pimental born about 1848. He arrived in Hawaii on Aug. 24, 1881. I would be very grateful if anyone has any info. on this side of the family. Aloha
