Cheri, here is are the terms used to define grandfather and grandmother: Avu
doesn’t exist. The right word would be Avô or Vovô for grandfather, and Avó
ou Vovó for grandmother. Apart from the four mentioned there are others less
popular, but used in certain regions of Portugal.
