Hi Vivian,

I noticed Cheri's response to your email and her link has been very helpful in
my own search.? And as she said, it will take months to get a response back
from them (I am still waiting to hear back from SS and FOIA) but I suspect it
will be very worthwhile!

Hi Cheri and Jessica,? My Grandmother married my Grandfather in 1918 but he was
not a citizen at that time.? I don't know when he first filed but he didn't get
his naturalization certificate until Oct 10, 1941.? I have never really checked
to see if my Grandmother ever filed for Citizenship but never remember my
Mother or Grandmother ever saying anything about having them.? In all the
census records that I have it shows them listed as aliens. That is only up to
the 1930's.? How would anyone be able to find that info as you have to know
when and where they would have filed don't you?? Thanks, Vivian

I believe it was in 1920 when the change happened. John Vasconcelos knows, but
he's gone for the week.?? I don't know if he'll see this or not.

I belive in the early 1900's (before 1920) if your husband became a citizen, the
wife automatically became a citizen.? I can't remember exactly when that
changed.
