Hi Ronnie,

Thank you for the great info.  I will try to call and find out any info they
have on the time period.  I did search the Santa Barbara County but did not
come up with anything that matched there.  I need to pin down some dates so I
can track where they were during certain years.  Thank can lead to being able
to find more info if I am looking in the right area's.  Thank you again for all
the help and info.  I have been trying to back track by finding my mothers
brothers birth certificates or to see if they were baptised and find the
church.  Maybe they would have more info on relatives.

Thank you to everyone that has given me information, idea's and helped.  This
puzzle will not be as easy as the other two sides of the family.

Vivian

Vivian:

If you are married to an American Citizen you don't automatically become a
Citizen.  You must file for citizenship.  The marriage may allow you to become
a citizen but the paper's must be filed.  At least that is how I understand
it.  The divorce may or may not have any effect.

Until 9-1-1 and sometimes during the War's no one was ever asked for proof of
citizenship, unless there was an interviewer who noticed an accent or suspected
something.  I was never asked until after 9/11/01.

My guess is that there was probably some real or believed reason she would lie
about her age.  My ggrandmother was 6 years older than her 2nd husband.
Perhaps, she had never told him or other's how old she really was.

Think about how complicated it would be for her to work if she didn't have a
SS#.  And, she had to work, so she lied.  No one checked anyway.  In 1958, I
just filled out the form and sent it in.  My SS card and the checks I receive
are still in the name of Ronnie, whereas, my birth certificate says I am
Veronica.  I now have problems with the discrepancy as I travel.  But, I was
named Veronica so that I could be called Ronnie and, that is who I am, Ronnie.
If someone called me Veronica, I probably wouldn't even answer.

Santa Maria and Guadalupe are in Santa Barbara county.  Nipomo and Oso Flaco
Lake are in San Luis Obispo County.  My husband says that years ago, the
boundaries changed several times.  So, some of your relatives records may be in
Santa Barbara County.  There is a small museum in Santa Maria.  If you call the
Chamber of Commerce, the Museum is next door.  I am sure you can get the phone
number.  They may know more about the Oso Flaco area and what was going on
during the time in question.  Santa Maria is still a farming community and
proud of it's history, someone should be able to either answer your questions
or refer you to someone who can answer your questions.  Don't forget the Farm
Bureau of both counties, too.

My ggrandfather was born in Madeira, my ggrandmother in the Azores.  The of the
family member's were born in Hawaii, except me and my brother.  Those are other
stories.

I have found most of the family members that are close to me, but I am trying
to find the brother's and sister and their families', who are probably living
somewhere on the mainland now.

Ronnie
