First of all I can't belive the amount of help that has been offered
by the people on this site, you all are great. This last post answers a
lot of questions. It looks like my Grams middle name was Silveira.
This post below fits the family perfectly. They lived in the USA for
my Aunts birth and were back in Sao Jorge for my moms birth in 1915.
Then it looks like they returned to the USA in 1920 after WW1.
As a point of interest for those of you on the West coast, the
Westerly RI./Pawcatuck CT area can be confusing. The two downtowns are
separated by a 30f bridge. That why a Westerly Post Office for
Pawcatuck. It may have changed by now, I'm not sure. Pawcatuck is
village in the Town of Stonington Ct. which also contains the villages
of Mystic and Stonington Village. These are all on the Atlantic
Ocean, and both Stonington Village and Watch Hill (part of Westerly)
had Portuguese fishermen there. Its all gone upscale now.
I was born over in Westerly but we lived in Pawcatuck.
Again this site is great keep it up!
Thanks so much
Les L
