I was thinking of Cento in looking at the other letters in the snip the o in Legitamo looks the same as the last letter in the name in question. And the second letter looks like an e. that just leaves the third letter. Things have been quiet on the list today every one must out Christmas shopping. Maybe it's an alcunha? Are there any other Costas around your ancestor's record in that same handwriting so you can compare the word Costa? I don't think it ends in an "a" though. Look at the "a" on the end of Rosa, Fortunta, Maria, etc. I think it ends in "to" and possibly "oto." Couto came to mind, but that doesn't look right for the 2nd letter.
