Oh my gosh.......I really think this is it especially since the tower was rebuilt after the earthquake! I can hardly wait to go there and see for sure! Meanwhile I'm going to be spending lots of time looking in the Rosais baptisms!
Thank you so very much!!!! Nancy To: [email protected] Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Does anyone know this village? Date: Fri, 10 Apr 2009 14:58:02 -0400 From: [email protected] Dear Nancy, I believe it is in Rosais. I have a photo of it and when I was there in 2006, they told me the "tower" used to be on the other side but was destroyed in an earthquake. When they rebuilt, the tower was put on the side opposite of your photo. I may have an old photo of the old church that was taken from the same position in order to compare them. I'll look around and see if I can find it. Meanwhile, look at this as see what you think. Arline Silveira in Grover Beach, CA My Mom recently gave me this photo from Sao Jorge. The home is that of my Ggrandmother Francisca Rosa Lemos, born around 1869. I have no idea which village this is and hope that someone on the list might recognize the church in the background.
