Thank you for the help and your explanation. It was very helpful to my
understanding of this situation.
Joao was not the 3GG ..... his mother, Umbelina Rosa, was. Joao was a
brother (or perhaps only half-brother) to Baltasar (the 2GG) who was
born in 1832. I wish I could find a similar document on Baltasar!
