Hello I am planning a trip to Faial in May and while doing some research, I recently found this group and thought I might be able to get some information on my paternal grandfather's side from Cedros. I have found quite a bit of information, but recently discovered he had two sisters that never came to the states - Maria Emilia Fontes Ramos (DOB 1894) and Filomena Fontes Furtado who stayed in Cedros. My grandfather's name was Joao Silveira Fontes (DOB 1891) and his parents were Jose Silveira and Ana Clara Do Coracao de Jesus (DOB 1862). Maria apparently had one stepson and 10 children. Filomena had a son, Jose Silveira Furtado aka Ramadinha, who apparently still lives in Faial.
If anyone knows of this family's decendants,I would love to contact them and meet them when I visit in May.
