It's hard to get any information on any living person in any country now,
due to privacy laws.

You'll be able to view the records in the archives at Horta up to about
1910.  But that probably won't help you much.

You might be able to go to Cedros and ask around for anyone who might know
of your family.  If you don't speak Portuguese, ask for an English speaking
taxi driver.  If you want his services for 4 hours, ask what he makes in a 4
hour time period and offer him that to take you to Cedros and act as your
translator.  (Or 6 hours or whatever).  Some people on this list have kept
the names of their taxi drivers who have been of assistance to them.  If so,
I'm sure they will post the info or contact you directly.
