Rose,
The ships record has Antonio Elias Raposo 35 (b. abt. 1869) leaving
Terceira 4/6/1904 and arriving 4/17/1904 in New Bedford on the ship
Peninsular. He is coming from Rosarge (probably mean Sao Jorge) going to
his cousin Manuel Silveira Lopes South Portsmouth RI.
Interestingly, there is an Antonio Elias Raposo 13 (b. abt. 1893) coming
from Terceira 10/12/1906 from Sao Jorge and b. Sao Jorge (the indexer read
the wrong line and listed Graciosa) and he is going to his father Antonio
Elias Raposo in San Francisco. He became a citizen ca 1937 (his numbers are
listed if you want to order his Naturalization records). Could this be the
son of the one above?
Are these ship's records on Passportes, anyone? Everytime I look there I
can't seem to find what I am looking for :-( The Passportes may give you
the name of his wife? parents? and other info. Haven't found them on census
yet...still searching.
