Kim,
What was your great grandmother's name who came from Sao Jorge? Do you have
her Portuguese name or her sister Rosa's maiden name? I will check ship's
manifest for you if you can give me name and approximate year of birth.
"E"
I just recently found my great grandmothers sister Rosa Smith in San
Rafael in Marin County. Her husband is Frank Smith (portuguese last name
Da Sodre, De Sodre or Sodre) from Sao Jorge. So now after 5 years of
researching I have finally found what island my great grandmothers family
is from Sao Jorge. Now I just need to figure how to find the village and
frequisia. I found some information that they came into Rhode Island but
I do not know were to look for that information. So I can find what last
name they decided to use coming into the US
