Dear E You are correct, it will take some months to have any viable index for the 1940 so we are stuck with trying to find our people in the same place they were in 1930! Converting the 1930 ED's to 1940 ED's will be the only way to find your people in the big cities like New York City, Chicago etc. If they moved between 1930 and 1940 you may have to wait until there is an index. The smaller towns can be searched page-by-page but not the big ones!
