In Hawaii we usually use aku which is a tuna fish. It will taste good with
whatever fish you use. This is a recipe that I use for Pickle Onions,

1 ΒΌ cup vinegar

2 cups water

3 tsp. Hawaiian salt also called rock salt

If you want your pickles really vinegary you can add more vinegar

We usually leave it out overnight so the salt really melts and put it in the
refrigerator the next day.

We also add in pipinola with the onions and bell peppers.

Hope this helps.

Gail

I was going through some stuff my sis gave me before she moved and I have a
feeling she probably bought this on her last trip to Hawaii as it says it
comes from Hawaii. It says Portuguese Fish Mix Vinha Dalhos Mix. You add
water, fish and marinate. If I make this what will it taste like and what
kind of fish should I use? It says you can also use it for Portuguese
Pickled Onions.
