Hello group, I hope I am not showing poor etiquette in asking this question on this list. If I am, I apologize.
My question is: How do you trace the ancestors of a female ancestor when all you have is her name, approx. year of birth, death date and burial place, marriage certificate, a number of census's and the birth info. on all her children? She is Marie Catherine Fischer/Fisher, born approx. 1858, I know not where other than in the U.S. Married 2 Dec 1877, d. 22 Sep 1888. Depending on which document you look at, she was either born in Illinois or Germany. Once document says she is Indian others say she is American or German... I've been trying to figure this out for years!! Any and all suggestions much appreciated. I don't see how I can write to the Bureau of Indian Affairs with this little bit of info?? I'm figuring if she was Indian, Fisher was NOT her Indian name. Thanks in advance, Sam in CA -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected].
