Thanks Eric, The Mary that was born in 1905, is too young to be the Mary/Godmother to my Father. The picture that I have, she is at least 30 years older than he is, if not 40 years older. Also, she immigrated in 1921. My Father was born in 1912, and was baptized soon after. I'm going to write to St. Augustine again, and ask if they will give the name of the godfather. The only reason that they gave me her name, is that I sent them a copy of the picture and copied Judy at the Pleasanton Museum, as proof it was for Pleasanton Historical records and not for anything else. I did write Judy, at the PT Museum, just in case she happens to know or have info on the Furtado family. In doing the research with her at the museum, we found out that her Father and mine, attended Amador High at the same time, as they were in many pictures together. We are having fun, exchanging notes and as I am sorting through my years of mess, I am sending her pictures for the museum. Thank you for your help ~ I'll be in town the week before Mother's Day 2013. Maybe we can visit before you go on your shift. Ally In a message dated 10/30/2012 7:11:26 P.M. Ally, According to the 1957 Pleasanton phone book , there are no Furtado families listed. The 1940 census also lists no Furtado in town. The 1930 shows Manuel and Mary Furtado, children Mary born in 1926 in Rhode Island, Edward, b. 1929, and John b. 1930 in California. It says Mary was born 1905, Azores, and immigrated in 1921. Saw your note at work, maybe next trip. Eric Edgar On Tue, Oct 30, 2012 at 11:41 AM, <[email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) > wrote: Robin ~ Sorry to answer you so late. We had carpet laid and I had to empty two rooms of pure junk collection! I'm having a field day tossing, sorting, and donating.....and then I found this picture..... The only info that I have, is her name is Maria Furtado, and she was my Father's Godmother. So, that would be her married name. The picture is WWII era, maybe 1942. She would be at least 30 years older than my Father. By looking at the picture she is in her 60's or 70's. My Father was born in 1912, in Pleasanton. So I'm guessing that his christening was soon after his birth. I'm not finding anything of her in Pleasanton. There is a Mary, but she would be way too young to fit this picture. The Furtado family that I'm trying to locate, would have lived in Pleasanton between 1900 and 1960. So far no luck. But I have written the Catholic Church in Pleasanton and hoping they will give me his name. I'll let you know what I find. Ally In a message dated 10/2/2012 9:41:15 A.M. My 2nd great grandmother, Ana Furtado Jorge do Souto of Salao, Faial, Azores, born 10 Jun 1864 married Jose de Rocha Borba in Half Moon Bay, CA in 1884. They resided in San Jose, CA until her death in 1937. I've recently traced this line back to 1687 to Ana Furtado Inacia and her husband Manuel Pereira Prede. I would be happy to check my records to see if there maybe a connection to our Furtado's. That was very kind of you to do the research. I have a picture of my Father with this person. I wrote Saint Augustine Catholic Church in Pleasanton and asked them if they would please give me the name of his God Mother so that both the Pleasanton Museum and I could identify her in the picture. They were kind enough to do that and now I have a name for the woman in the picture. I was hoping that someone in the group was a Furtado whose Ancestor lived in Pleasanton, during the early 1900's. Anyway, thank you again, for your time and assistance. I will add the info that you shared with the picture.
