Robin ~ Sorry to answer you so late. We had carpet laid and I had to empty two rooms of pure junk collection! I'm having a field day tossing, sorting, and donating.....and then I found this picture..... The only info that I have, is her name is Maria Furtado, and she was my Father's Godmother. So, that would be her married name. The picture is WWII era, maybe 1942. She would be at least 30 years older than my Father. By looking at the picture she is in her 60's or 70's. My Father was born in 1912, in Pleasanton. So I'm guessing that his christening was soon after his birth. I'm not finding anything of her in Pleasanton. There is a Mary, but she would be way too young to fit this picture. The Furtado family that I'm trying to locate, would have lived in Pleasanton between 1900 and 1960. So far no luck. My 2nd great grandmother, Ana Furtado Jorge do Souto of Salao, Faial, Azores, born 10 Jun 1864 married Jose de Rocha Borba in Half Moon Bay, CA in 1884. They resided in San Jose, CA until her death in 1937. I've recently traced this line back to 1687 to Ana Furtado Inacia and her husband Manuel Pereira Prede. I would be happy to check my records to see if there maybe a connection to our Furtado's.
