Dolores C, For your records, the island you are dealing with is Sao Jorge (no "s" on the end). Maria's parents would be Joao and Francisca da Rosa. I guess you mean the mom's nickname was Frank. Usually men who are named Francisco go by Frank and the women go by Francis/Frances (if anglicized). But everyone's family has their own nicknames.
