Melody,

There are quite a few things on this family on Ancestry.com and I sent you
a couple.  I did find them in the 1870 but no place of birth listed there
only that he was a seaman.  I did find the marriage record of son Benjamin
and I will send it to you via ancestry and maybe the form they filled out
to obtain it will give you the father's birthplace.  I will keep searching.

There is also a Porto in mainland Portugal.
