My de Medeiros Brilhante family begins with Joao Pereia and Alexandrina de Medeiros Brilhante. Joao's parents and family are from Pico, and records are difficult to read. Alexandrina's family is from Arrifes, Sao Jose, and Faja de Baixo...but I dd notice the Medeiros Brilhante family from Ponta Garca...I found them by accident looking over the Ponta Delgada passport list. Back to Alexandrina...At the moment, I am back to her 2nd great grandfather, Manoel de Medeiros, he was married to Francisca do Rego and was baptized in the church of Divino Espirito Santo, parish of Maia, so I will have to wait to investigate further. To answer your last question, no, I am not the previous researcher, I just started genealogy research in November. Thank you very much for your input regarding Manoel Ferreira de Mello and Maria Francisca. I did some serious searching for Manoel's first marriage but I did not find it, but I think I found Maria's baptism, but it too is very difficult to read. If you want to take a look at Maria's possible baptism, here is the link: top, right of page. I'll be honest, I can't read it for the life of me...even with my huge magnifying glass. What I could make out is ? de Mello and Antonia, maybe Pacheca? I really don't know.
