Hi Maria, I have this couple Joao da Costa and Anna Martins in my family tree also. They are my 7th great grandparents. Joao da Costa was born about 1673, but the baptismal records either don't go back that far or are missing for those few years. Anna Martins was born about 1676 and she died 18 Nov 1726 in Relva.
For the parents of Joao da Costa, I have Manuel da Costa and Isabel Martins. For the parents of Anna Martins, I have Gaspar Rodrigues and Maria Martins. I also have the marriage record for Gaspar Rodrigues and Maria: It was 3 May 1666 in Nossa Senhora da Candeias, Candelaria, Sao Miguel. The parents of Gaspar Rodrigues are Pedro Rodrigues adn Margarida Goncalves. The parents of Maria Martins are Andre Goncalves and Maria Goncalves. http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PD-CANDELARIA-C-1551-1681/SMG-PD-CANDELARIA-C-1551-1681_item1/P65.html The marriage record for Pedro Rodrigues and Margarida Goncalves is 6 Apr 1622 in Nossa Senhora da Candeias, Candelaria, Sao Miguel. Parents of Pedro Rodrigues are Joao Velho and (unknown), and parents of Margarida Goncalves are Gaspar Rodrigues and Maria Calvo. http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PD-CANDELARIA-C-1551-1681/SMG-PD-CANDELARIA-C-1551-1681_item1/P43.html Anyways, what child are you descended from of the couple Joao da Costa and Anna Martins? I am from their second child Manuel da Costa who was born 6 Nov 1697. He was married to Theresa de Sousa on 23 Apr 1729 in Relva. It would be nice to hear from you so we can exchange info on this family. You can email me off-list if you want.
