The 1816 is a certification. It means her birth record was requested and certified in 1816. It could be for many reasons. a) inheritance b) a child or husband needed proof of birth. Should you find this certification on her husband's birth record or one of their children, you will know it was an inheritance or other legal matters. If they owned a home together and he remarried, there would be a need to set the records straight...etc. Nothing in the obit refers to his remarriage. It does say her age was 38 years old. If you suspect he did marry again, you can start searching shortly after her death date, especially if there were children, a man would usually remarry shortly after. It may not be in the same town though, which makes it hard to find.
