With help, here is my attempt at translating the document. I am reasonably
confident that Paschaol de Sousa Leal (also known as Paschoal de Sousa
Amaranté) is my 5th great grandfather which would make Paschaol de Sousa (his
son) my 4th great grand uncle. This is a fantastic find and my thanks to those
that have assisted, If anyone can fill in any of blanks or provide corrections,

I found the attached document in the Book of Obitos for the town of Manadas,
Sao Jorge but do not understand the contents. I can pick out various words such
as the "island of PIco" and names such as "Manoel Correa Pereira husband of
Barbara de Sousa" and "Luis Pereira husband of Maria de ........" as well as
"Paschoal de Sousa son of Paschoal de Sousa Leal", the document does not appear
to follow the usual recording of a death. Can anyone help me in translating and
understanding the document. See second entry left hand side of the document.
