Speaking about using Legacy on a Mac… Cheri was correct in that you can do that using any number of Virtualization programs such as Parallels, Fusion, or Apples free Bootcamp. I use Parallels myself and find that it works very, very well. It puts an entire Windows computer within your Mac. The deal is though, that you buy the virtualization software but then you must also have a legal copy of Windows to install on it it just as if it was a regular computer. With this set up you can run any windows genealogy software program or any other windows program on your Mac. If anyone reading this is interested or has anymore questions, you can write me privately so that I could elaborate for you the pros and cons. There are other options, as well.
To add to Cheri’s comments about a computer-based genealogy app versus the online apps, I would say also, that I would rather have a computer-based program. You have much more control over your data and don’t have to rely on whether or not ancestry or any of the other sites are down or not functioning correctly or any other number of problems that they could have.
