I am amazed to see the name Whittle as in my searches in Faial I thought it odd to see that name. Now, I am unsure of the context in which I saw this name it was most likely in a marriage record and the person was possibly a witness. But I seem to think he was up there in rank too. Oh if I could just remember more.
