It occurs to me that a similar situation transpires in Judges 13:17-18
ויאמר מנוח אל מלאך יהוה מי שמך כי יבא דבריך וכבדנוך. ויאמר לו מלאך יהוה למה זה תשאל לשמי והוא פלאי
"Then Manoah inquired of the angel of the Lord What is your name so that we may honor you when your word comes true? He replied Why do you ask my name? It is beyond understanding”
Here too Manoax appears to be asking for the name to understand it in the context of its meaning.
