FYI I've been using v4 for over a year now, I recently patched my
install to include a solution to a bug/issue I raised a couple years
ago, but even without that patch it would appear to have been working
well. From my experience, I would advise to start v4 with a clean pool,
and avoid trying to re-use the old v3 pool. A lot of my issues were
caused by that.
Doing work recently (adding new hosts) I realised that performance on v4
is hit hard because of a couple of "bugs" (undeveloped sharp edges)
which makes it do a full fsck on all existing backups after every new
backup (or partial), and if you have a large number of backups, and/or a
lot of files on the machines, then this will cause some significant drop
in performance.

So, technically, it seems to work well, in practice, it could do with
some improvements/polishing and it will become an even more awesome
solution.

Regards,
Adam
