Hello Simone, I think I found your problem.  You probably don't have a ~/texmf directory.  I have just pushed a change to the git docs repo that automatically creates it for you (I really don't like creating things like ~/texmf, but that is what needed). You can also manually run the command: mktexlsr ~/texmf and that will probably resolve your problem -- at least I hope so.
