Yes, I erred. The quote I had in mind was from PUP:
Furthermore, every nation is proud of its great men and heroes even
though those great ones may have been atheists or agnostics. Today
France glorifies Napoleon Bonaparte, saying, "He was a French military
genius," whereas, in reality, he was a tyrant. They say, "Voltaire was
ours," although Voltaire was an atheist. "Rousseau was a great man of
this nation," and yet Rousseau was irreligious. France is proud of these
great men. Feasts are held commemorating them, their names are
perpetuated in special days, their memories treasured in prominent
places, and there is music and celebration in their honor.
(Abdu'l-Baha, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 413)
Nevertheless, even in Secret of Divine Civilization, Abdul-Baha
misunderstands the historical context of the Enlightenment reaction
against the power of Roman Catholic ecclesiastics.

again, when non-specific quotes, re-nuanced to fit a view are offerd to dialog,
the result can be fairly empty.
i can find voltaire speaking to a point that might be summarised, "any god that
works for my goals is good enuff."
i don;t have access, nor probably does any one else, to what tfhe Master actuallly
>said< in the >one time< the Master is recorded (pup) as calling voltaire an
atheist.
we have :"We shall content Ourself with brief references here, the purpose
being to determine conclusively whether religion is the very basis and
root-principle of culture and civilization, or whether as Voltaire and his like
suppose, it defeats all social progress, well-being and peace.
(Abdu'l-Baha, The Secret of Divine Civilization, p. 74)"
Among those who have repudiated religious faith was the Frenchman, Voltaire,
who wrote a great number of books attacking the religions, works which are no
better than children's playthings
(Abdu'l-Baha, The Secret of Divine Civilization, p. 72)
no conflict i can see.
again, before debating what to think about what people said, it is useful to find out what they said.
