Huwa ma’akum aynamaa kuntum [Holy Qur’an 57:4] One of the most renowned
scholars of Islam [Ghazaali] writes: as quoted by Professor Chittick
(excerpting from Ghazaali’s Kimiyaa ye sa’aadat the Alchemy of
Happiness. In essence Ghazali writes: http://www.vanleer.org.il/Data/UploadedFiles/Files/rehabilitation.doc **"The cause of the veil is that someone will learn the creed and
he will learn the proofs for that as they are uttered in dialectics and debate,
then he will give his whole heart over to this and believe that there is no
knowledge whatsoever beyond it. If
something else enters his heart, he will say, 'This disagrees with what I have
heard, and whatever disagrees with it is false.' It is
impossible for someone like this ever to know the truth of affairs, for the
belief learned by people is the mould of truth, not the truth itself. Complete
knowledge is for the realities to be unveiled from the mould, like a kernel
from the shell." Professor Chittick again quotes Rumi Brother, you are this very thought— [ey baraadar to
hameh andeesheh ee] the
rest of you is bones and fibre. If roses are your thought, you are a rose garden, if
thorns, you are fuel for the furnace. If rosewater, you will be sprinkled on the neck, if
urine, you will be dumped in a pit. We must go above this
attitude: 'This disagrees with what
I have heard, and whatever disagrees with it is false. We must make of our
thoughts rose-water as Rumi recommended How long wilt thou dwell on words and empty
shows? And if one is really interested in
discussion this one verse suffices that in the Holy Qur’an there is this
amazing Divine Utterance (anticipating, in a way, the objections that were

words of my Lord, sooner would the ocean be exhausted than would the words of
my Lord, even if we added another ocean like it, for its aid." PICKTHAL: Say: Though the sea became ink for the Words of my Lord,
verily the sea would be used up before the words of my Lord were exhausted,
even though We brought the like thereof to help. SHAKIR: Say: If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, the sea
would surely be consumed before the words of my Lord are exhausted, though We
were to bring the like of that (sea) to add. In relation to this verse people
asked the Imam Ja’far as.Saadiq (Peace be upon Him) the 6th Imam; What is the meaning of this verse: [akhbaraka

of high thoughts is the dynamic power in the arteries of life; it is the very
soul of the world. Thoughts are a boundless sea, and the effects and varying
conditions of existence are as the separate forms and individual limits of the
waves; not until the sea boils up will the waves 110 rise and
scatter their pearls of knowledge on the shore of life. Thou, Brother, art
thy thought alone, The rest is
only thew and bone.[1] [1 Rumi, The
