Dear Susan, I just wanted to see if I understood what Scott was saying. He said with such finality that the marriage would not be invalidated, so I wondered if he knew of a case. I have not yet received a clear "yes" or "no," at least, as far as I understand with my Oldtimers' Disease ;-) . So, actually, I was not being hypothetical in the least: 1) has it happened that the House condoned a sex change in an already-married person, and 2) if so, is the marriage still valid? I suspect I am getting a deafening silence, possibly because it has not happened for the reasons you cite. Altho' what you are postulating about a person not wanting to stay married seems to make sense, I keep running across so many variations in human sexual--not to mention, social--proclivities, that I think there are no guarantees of anything with regard to this subject. At least, as far as predicting what the people involved will choose to do...
