I don't have a specific example in mind but I'm sure I've have heard
of similar cases. It is totally plausible to me that a man and a woman
(who could be bisexual, or really queer-friendly) got married to
someone of the opposite sex with the knowledge that their partner may
be questioning their gender identity. During the marriage, the
questioning partner could actually decide to get surgery, while the
other partner decides that they are still attracted to their partner
or in any case, they are going to be supportive enough of their
partner's decision that they don't want to get divorced right away.
So the hypothetical situation being discussed seems plausible to me.
(Although maybe it hasn't happened yet in the Bahai community)
